GROHE continues their commitment to supporting initiatives and organisations encouraging promising industry talent.
Following success at the debut event in 2023, GIVE is proud to be the headline sponsor for the second year in a row of the Female Skills competition 2024 run by HIP, the UK’s only magazine dedicated to plumbing and heating students. The competition has been created to provide a dedicated space for enthusiastic female contestants to showcase their skills and talent amongst comparable peers.
Taking place at Stephenson College, Coalville on 18thApril, the grand finale revealed Daisy Turner as the 2024 winner who competed against six finalist contestants. Daisy continues to break barriers within the installer industry, as she was also crowned the Learner of the Year 2024, having beat six competitors at the plumbing competition also run by HIP. The Female Skill Competition finalists secured their spot following three intense regional heats for Level 2 and 3 plumbing learners held at Bath College, Leicester College and finally Kirklees College. Each regional heat consisted of live practical tasks, with the finale pushing the contestants’ skills that much further with enhanced practical assignments and challenges.
As headline sponsor, the GIVE Program’s leader, Chris Penney, awarded Daisy with her winners certificate plus an array of exciting prizes. Prizes included exclusive an invitation to join GROHE at the global WorldSkills event in September, hosted in Lyon, a GIVE Program toolkit, as well as some best-selling GROHE products. The runner-up Ciah Hooch Llewellyn Davies also went home with GROHE prizes, such as GROHE G500 Shower Set, while all competitors were gifted with a Eurosmart Basin Mixer.
Chris Penney, Leader, GIVE Program, GROHE UK, LIXIL EMENA comments “Well trained and professional personnel are pivotal to our industry, and we’re committed to supporting and championing those starting out. The skills gap is a major focus for us at GROHE as a leader within the industry, and it’s vital to support initiatives like this that promote gender diversity. We’re proud to be able to support the HIP Female Skills Competition again this year and once again blown away by the talent on display.”
